Vette(s): 1982 Corvette Collector Edition - 450 mile original!

Hey folks, great to see the c3vr site is still up and running strong!  I've bought an 82 Collector Edition, and I recall this site having tons of useful info.  I'll be sure to Search before asking bonehead questions.  My CE has 450 original miles on it, so if there's anything I can do (pictures) to help out other restorers, just say the word.

I found that one on eBay of all places - And it came in the exact perfect shape the seller described it.  It was a gamble, but it paid off.

How do I not drive them?  It's weird, but I actually treat them more like artwork than I do cars.  I've owned several Vettes, and build faster cars that I actually do drive.

I just like taking care of these 'new' old cars, and the Vette is one of a few that I have.  The '89 Turbo Trans Am has 1,200 miles.  The '85 IROC-Z is my high mileage one at 3,780 miles.  The Viper only has 2,500 but it's an '01.  That's the car that's hard not to drive :-)

A friend of mine has a early, I forget what year, Viper.   I was allowed to drive it.  That darn thing almost punishes the driver with seat position, poor sun visor, pedal position etc.  But one you nail that critter, none of that comes to mind or matters.  That car is a blast!

I can respect and agree on the art value.  No way to skip that aspect, but I would still break down and drive them once in a while.

The GTS cars were a thousand times more enjoyable to drive than the early RT/10 cars.  But that said, nobody is going to mistake one for a Lexus.  The pedal position is still odd, and it's not a comfy ride even by Corvette standards.  But it's not meant to be either.

I'll drive all these cars some during the year.  Not far of course, but far enough to put a smile on my face!

Mike,  I have a question.   On your rocker molders.   Are they gloss or flat black?   Thanks.

Very nice indeed.

Iron, point me in the right direction - Which rocker moldings?  I know what I think they are, but I've heard them called different things by different people.  I should be able to go have a look today and let you know, work permitting of course.  Damn work, but it pays the bills ...
