My Vette-Subject of College Speech

 My son is in his freshman year of college. With that comes speech class. He has chosen to do a speech about restoring cars. His teacher asked Micheal what he knew about restoring old cars. So Michael told him about the vette. Michael said his teacher fired right back at him, "See if your dad can bring the car to class!"
So, now I get to take the vette to college for speech class. Woohoo!!! This should be interesting. I would never have guessed.

My first Corvette was a wrecked 57 that I bought in 58 while in college for $1500.  I fixed it and drove it until by Dad found out about it and went absolutely nuts.  Then I sold it immediately and did not tell him about the 61.  His concern was his insurance rate and my driving record.  How narrow minded could a parent have been?  Imagine what that 57 us worth today.  Talk about a subject for a speech class.

It actually should be a lot of fun.  It will get a lot of attention.

Yesterday I started installing a Stayfast convertible to it. I have to get it finished before the speech. The top is going to look like a tux on the vette. I love the stayfast material. 

Finally got it completely installed today. The speech is Tuesday of this week. I am sure I am more nervous about the speech than he is. 

Well the speech went over great. One of the kids said "Man that is phat, P-H-A-T, phat!" They had all the usual questions, how fast is it, can I drive it, does it get a lot of chicks,  etc..
Michael had done his homework and presented some pretty good facts. Had lots of references and even took my book full of receipts to show. When it was all said and done, the teacher came over and asked me if he could set in it.  Of course I obliged him. He thanked me for bringing the car out and finally told me that 1970 was his birth year and that he had always wanted a 1970 corvette.
After class, Michael asked me if I would like to go eat lunch before his next class. I said yeah, lets go and tossed him the keys.

Oh yeah, I forgot my camera. Bonehead move of the day.

Sounds like a really good day.  Very cool.
