Yeah...most likely, or the dealer added them. Not a big deal, tho. They can be removed easily, for Judging purposes.
I like them, meself...adds a little flash to the sides of the car, imo.
The data plate(shifter plate with flag) is factory installed, and correct for the car.

As a 68 coupe owner for 38 years, I can tell you that hardly any part on a 68 is the same as on a 69. The 68 shifter plate is smooth with only a beautiful small flag emblem. No decals with engine/horsepower . I worked in maintenance in the original MTD (modern tool & die company) for 34 years. We made the 63-82 radiator supports , 68-82 front bumper braces (dog legs) and the 2 ribbed bird cage panels behind the seats on 68-82 corvettes.
