LT1 in a 1969

1. Does anyone know of an LT-1 engine installed in a factory original 1969. Production number is about 3/4 through the production year.

2. Does anyone know how to decode the engine type on the following vette? 194679s722823

Highly doubtful, unless there is a ton of documentation indicating some sort of a test mule or something like that. There was a big discussion over at the NCRS and most of the folks said it wasn't so. Is someone claiming that they have such a car? I would doubt it, especially since it isn't even towards the end of the production run.

Two points.

1. The assembly manual (pages j14 (release Dec 3, 1969)/ j17(release Dec 13, 1969))for the 1969 states actions for an LT1. Application of hood decal and locations. Measurements for engine etc. The same manual pages 360, 361, and 362 (LT1 - B1 revision date February 10 ,1970, LT1 - A1 revision date December 6, 1969, LT1 - A2 revision date February 10 ,1970) These address the hood decals and the changes in the engine including the L88 engine carburetor detail.

2. The book (Corvette by the Numbers) has a listing for a 350 ci at 370 hp. (page 149 shows hump back heads valve size 2.02 / 1.60)

I can only tell from the tank sticker if in place.

Is there any other location to find the original engine supplied with only a vin number to start.

Those are good points but (I am reaching back into the deep portions of the gray matter) I think I remember reading elsewhere that it was GOING to be produced but something held it up. Again, this is from memory. I do know that the pros over at the NCRS say that there wasn't an LT1 until 1970. The AIM is often in error, especially for options that don't make it through the production or testing runs. Try this same question over at www.ncrs.org and see what they say.

Short of finding your tank sticker you are going to have to do some digging to prove what was in your car. The trouble is that your car is 34 years old and who knows what was added or subtracted in the interim. It is possible to add anything to a car and call it original. You can change gauges, wiring, fuel lines, etc and it will match what the experts say should be in there.

I did get the above dates incorrect by one year, but yoiu answered correctly.

I will try NCRS and I will pull apart the rear to find the tank sticker to see the real answer.
