Vette(s): 1963 convertible 1965 coupe
Back the screw up about three rounds and then bump the end of the screwdrive with the heel of your hand.  That's push the metal back in and you can tighten the screw.

Vette(s): 1981 - 59 Beige over Cinnebar leather. Edlebrock top end, 2200 stall w/shift kit, 3:55s, Mufflex maniback exhaust, nice stereo, 16 in AREs w/BFGs
Little trick taught to me by my friend Rick who is the best interior/stereo guy around...  Any delicate screws ie:interior, use your finger tips, not your hand or fingers to tighten.  If it gets too much you prob went to far...

Vette(s): 1982 Black over red, doing a resto.
Most of the ones I find bad are the ones that hold the door pull strap or arm rest.

You are right KeBo, most people use too much force on delicate parts.

Lots of good tips here!
