Vette(s): Original purchaser of 1977 light blue with smoke interior (trying to locate NOW) Present owner of 1977 maroon with smoke interior (was my brothers who bought it when I got my original 1977. Sold to me in 2022
Hello to all. I have been searching for my original corvette purchased in 1977. A base coupe with T-tops in a light blue color (smoke grey interior) with optional luggage rack installed. Purchased in Syracuse NY and traded in 1979 for a Trans Am at Carbone Pontiac on Commercial Drive in Utica NY. I recently saw a video on youtube of an auction in Idaho of a stock corvette which looked a lot like my original car with a Vin # of 1Z37L7S421081.
Not sure if that would be it, but any advice / info is appreciated. Thank you.

Vette(s):
SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe

If you have any paperwork squirreled away from your original purchase that would most likely have the VIN recorded. If not, a long shot would be to contact the dealer you bought the car from, if they're still in business, to see if they have any records going back that far. Another avenue would be to contact the DMV to see if they still have any records in your name from the time of your purchase and ownership. Good luck with your hunt...!!!

Thank you Norsky! Yes, I have been down that rabbit hole. Absolutely, did not keep any paperwork. First tried the NYS DMV; No records back that far. Then went through State Farm Ins. , which I have had since 1974, No records back that far. Called the dealer where I bought it and where I traded it...No records back that far. Then called every Police agency which gave me a ticket (including the Fort.Drum , Watertown Ny Army Base!....No records back that far. Oh well....I ended up with my brothers 77. But it still hurts to this day to think of losing my first vette!

You've covered more bases than I had thought of. My guess would be records exist somewhere, just not computerized ones. I'm a bit of a packrat and have folders with info on every vehicle I've ever owned. I've often wondered what became of some of them but have never chased them down. Good luck if you ever decide to dive back into the hunt again.
