I decided to make this a real event, so I'm going to drive the '69 home to SoCal from Pittsburgh. The cool thing is I'll head south from PA and go to the National Corvette Museum. I've never been there before and may not get another chance to see it for a long time. After that it's a straight shot across the country on Route 40 to California.

I'm psyched...it's been a while since I've done a road trip. Laguna7038390.7116319444

Be careful driving over the mountain passes.  Vettes don't do well in snow.  Depending on what part of PA, you're probably going to hit something this time of year.  You can miss most of the snow going south the rest of the way, but you never know when a surprise storm will blow in.

I was just checking out the map and I've got a better route planned that will take me well south of any threat of snow. Figure I'll take 40 to 30 to 20 to 10...hug the way south and stay away from the weather.

That will be a real acid test. Does the car have OD to make the trip a little easier. When are you supposed to head out? Sorry for the 20 questions.

It's going to be a loud, non OD trip. This will be my only opportunity to take a serious road trip in an old Vette, so I'm just going for it. Noise and lots of gas aside, I can't wait. I'm flying out on Sunday night and am going to get on the road on Monday the 14th. I'll go straight to Bowling Green, hit the NCM early on Tuesday then start for home. Aside from saving a ton of money on shipping, I'm really going to get to know the car. The current owner is 100% confident that the car will do this trip without a hitch, since it is essentially new mechanically with less than 10K miles on the ZZ4 and aluminum radiator and also has brand new suspension, starter, battery, steering unit and brakes.Laguna7038390.6504398148

Thanks Ken! If I can find internet access I will absolutely keep everyone posted, and when I get back to the real world I will post pics.

Sounds like fun to me. Wish I could get off work long enough to do stuff like that. Make sure the heater works before to head out. Might be a bit cold

If your trip from PA takes you near Frederick, MD, give me a shout. You're welcome to stay over if needed and you certainly have computer time here.

Since you are traveling via I-40 for part of the trip, if you get to Memphis and it's time to stop for the night, you're more than welcome to stay over if needed.  Sounds like an awesome trip
