I'm back. I had back sergery and then a detox for all the pain killers I have been taking for the last 5 years. That was rough man. Don't mess with those pills. I also had to have a new trans installed on my black 81. Some how the trans broke a part were it bolts to the back of the engine. Has anyone ever seen that happen??? A big chunk on the right hand side, gone!!! I have never bottomed out or hit anything???

You know... I almost sent the Coast Guard out to look for you. Good thing you checked in here. Glad to see you are back. As far as the trans... is the rear trans mount OK???

'bout time you showed up

Any loose bolts or bad mounts could have helped the trans problem along. Check them all closely, but in reality the trans installer should have done this. Doesn't hurt to ask them.

Hey 'Gator!
Glad your back and done with those darn pain killers!
I'm hopin' you recover in full from the back surgery.
Hopefully the guy that did the trans. install can get your '81 straightened out easily enough.
Take care,
Kevin

Hope you recover from the surgery quickly, Mike!! Glad to have ya back!!
The trans bellhousing usually breaks when it's not installed properly. I see them all the time with a crack, or a chunk completely broken off. If there is something in between the case and the block, and the bolts are tightened down, it'll crack it. Even something as small as one wire in there could do it. Ya just never know. Also, if the bolts are loose, then over time it will eventually crack the case, but you'll usually feel a bad vibration in that scenario.
Anyway, sure happy to hear you're feeling a bit better now.

Welcome back Gator! Glad to hear your back surgery went well enough to not require the pain killers. Those things can be bad news.
And as mentioned above...loose bolts, bad mounts could have caused your trans to brake. Or those crazy burnouts you were doing might have something to do with it. hehehe. Just kidding!

Now that you brough this up, I wanna know more about it. What was wrong with your back and what did they Dr.'s do to fix the problem?
