How to make a neat Siphon Hose.

Maybe some of you know this.  Maybe some of you do not.  It was new to me.....

With the high price of gas, it always good to have a good Siphon Hose handy, especially when your neighbor has a full tank of gas in his SUV all the time......just kidding..........!!

I learned from another guy to use a "boat gas bulb" with a length of 3/8"  plastic water or 1/4 "copper pipe from Home Depot and 5/16" rubber hose.  Worked real good to clean the old gas from the bottom of the tank of my vette using the pipe as the intake.  Really sucks!!  And simple too!!

Instead of the rubber hose use the clear soft vinyl tubing. You can see the gas flowing(before you get a mouth full!) I use the piece of pipe on the end like you mentioned, one of those chrome feed tubes like you find under the bathroom sink. I siphon my tanks every spring after winter storage and use the old gas in my work van.  Mike

ive found that regular unleaded has a mild but assertive after-dinner flavor, whereas super unleaded is a veritable melange of palmolive and windex!

Last time I siphoned gas I found out what high Octane meant. My buddy had some Premium stored back in a tank with aftermarket additive in it. I was gonna mix some up for my Huskavarna 360 so I siphoned some out the old fashioned way. When he came in He freaked out an asked me which tank I had retrieved the gas from. Which I politely responded THATNNN - THATNNN. I reckon I musta swallared some.

I ran out of gas in my'38 Pontiac late at night when I was 17, back in the day when it was tough to come up with a buck for 4 gallons of gas. I always had a siphon hose and an old steel gas can in the trunk. My buddy and I stole some out of an abandoned '46 Hudson and got caught by a rent-a-cop and got hauled off to jail. They made a HUGE deal out of it....

I still think about that every time I siphon gas..... and it never tastes any better...

Yeah.... you could drive a long way back then on a dollar's worth....
