Hello I am trying to decode my build date on my data plate. it is a 1968 vette and the build date is either I10 or L10. the I or L is straight up and down with no leg on the top or bottom so I can't tell which letter it is either. Did they start with A for January and B for February etc? Thanks for any help.

A is the first month of 68 production which I believe was September 67. So "I" would be the 9th month and "L" the 12th. What are the last 5 digits of your VIN? That could narrow down whether you're looking at an "I" or an "L".   Mike

A = Aug. '67...and so on ...then M = Aug. '68

"I" = April '68
"L" = July '68

Your VIN # puts it around the middle of April, '68.

The Corvette Black Book lists the last VIN sequence number for each months production except for a few years(78/79 for instance isn't providedUnhappy). Mike

The NCRS spec book gives much better info...

Joel, which NCRS spec book? The Tech. Information Manual and Judging Guide? I've got the 78/79 edition but like the Black Book it doesn't give the monthly info. Or is it from the Birthday Book? If it's something else I'd like to find a copy! Mike
