The plastic piece that Ecklers sells that go over the wiper well?It seems that GM would have done something. It looks horrible with out something over that.

Vette(s): black 1982 coupe slate gray interior, 350 crossfire, 1985 fuel pump, Steeroids R&P conversion
I installed one on my 82 about a year ago. It covers all the mechanicals for the wipers and is a big improvement inappearance. I bought mine from Rik's Corvettes in North Carolina, www.riksvet.com but probably the same thing that everyone else sells. Getting it on was a little tricky but I managed to get it on without even removing the wiper blades from the arms. Another set or hands, in the form of an assistant, would make the job easier but it can be done solo. My vette is black so I ordered the black plastic one instead of the fiberglass one that has to be painted and it looks good. I've not regretted installing the cover for a minute.

I put one on mine last year. I think it looks much better now. I just used a couple of small aluminum pop-rivets to hold it in place. If I need to remove it I can just drill the heads off the rivets

Yeah,I got one right after I bought my 82.Just like you I did it solo without taking off the wipers.I left mine black although they say you can paint them.Makes all the diff.Thats a big nasty hole.Still don't understand why GM did that. Were the early C3's like that?Being that they had the wiper door thing going on.Maybe thats why GM did that on the later models.Anybody with an early C3?

I use that area to hold tools when i am working under the hood
Can they be set up to remove quickly, or do they have to be permanently placed on?

Good question Paul
I've been debating on whether or not I should install one of these on the Pace. I'd also like to see how it looks installed.

[/QUOTE] I haven't put mine in permanently.Thats a good idea for tools.I think you should be able to slide it up towards the windshiled.I'll go check real quick................No it won't move out of the way.Mine is in there useing the tape that came on the back of the piece. Most of the tape has lifted so it not on there all that good but it still lays flat, doesn't interfere with the wipers. It would be a nice place to hide something in.
