There is no way anybody will know how you voted, so i hope this does not offend anybody. Just curious mostly as I am considering another one in the latter part of this year.

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

Capital One has a loan they call the "Blank Check." You apply for the loan up to a certain amount and they send you a check good for a few months (if you don't find what you're looking for before it expires, re-applying and getting a new check is fairly simple). That way, you can negotiate with the seller as if you had cash. I was happy with the results.
They do have separate options for Dealer vs. Private Seller.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I find this topic amusing.... I paid the fellow who used to own the Blacray. He gave me the car and the title.
Saying the car is paid for is a horse of a different color though. Somehow I don't think I will ever quit putting $$$ into it.
Unlike the Honda Theory "If it ain't broke don't fix it", well I can't seem to leave well enough alone. This seems to be a constant ailment with me.
If I own it I am spending $$$ on it. It's real similar to having a 2nd wife.....

As I have repeatedly told my sons, "The cheapest thing about owning a car is buying it!" I paid for my Corvette with a cashiers check, but that was really only the beginning....serviced the transmission, diff, replaced center console cover.....wait until next year.....tuning....head work....body work....the payments have just begun.

I have personal rules when it comes to my hobbies and, in particular, my corvettes and their maintenance. One rule is cash only, no loans. These are my rules, but I certainly would not condemn anyone for borrowing money for an opportunity to achieve their dream.......if that's what you want and you work for it. go for it!

Well my situation was kind of unique. I was in the middle of a nasty divorce. So needless to say, I didn't have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of. I realized I needed a project to keep myself occupied. Or else I was on the road to self destruction with my friend Jack Daniels.
So I found an old beat up '81 vette in the paper. It was February which meant the seller needed money. I took out a personal loan for $5500, which I paid off in 3 yrs. But in the meantime as I got back on my feet again, I would take some of my overtime money and do a little something to the car each year. Well it's been over 7 yrs, and $25k later. Me and my car have gone thru a sort of rebirth together, and spared ourselves self destruction.
And that's my story, and I'm not ashamed. Especially when I hear some young kid say "Hey Mister, Nice car!"

Been working my own little business after work and on weekends for about 10 yrs. so when a buddy brought his vette to work and put it out front for sale, I fell in love and bought it (cash). Saw another on the roadside for sale, made cash arrangements. Friends were selling another, a gutted shell, bought it cash at the spur of the moment. Now I can't stop working 2 jobs if I want to have a few bucks for parts and beer 
but I'm grateful for the chance I've gotten.
