Vette(s): 1969 427 sport coupe, Monza Red, matching numbers, all original.
Hi,
Looking for some advice please. I've looked at many C3's from Phoenix to Denver to Portland over the last 6 months. Most in below average, (my opinion), condition so haven't been interested in any till now. I found a 1969 427 Monza red, all original except one repaint. Looks to be well cared for but the owner has only had it 7 years. It was his Father in laws for 7 or 8 years before that. He was told it had some level of NCRS certification but has no documents. Is it possible to find it with a vin#? Where would I look?
He has no build sheet or anything like that either.

Beside's carfax is there another source for history of ownership

Also, it looks to be a base 427, 390hp, no tilt, no PW, no AC. Undercarriage and interior are very clean. Engine compartment looks all original and also in very good condition.

I'm looking for something to hang on to for a while. I've rebuilt and customized a 1971 3/4 ton K20 4x4. But this car is something I would keep original. Is a model like this one desireable to keep original?

thanks for any advice for a first time Corvette buyer!

You can contact Roy at NCRS and get a verification of any NCRS award the car has ever received. You DO have to be an NCRS member to get this service, and it will cost you $40 for the service.  Thumbs Up

Any '69 big block is worth keeping, if it's in good condition. With a little research, and some legwork, you should be able to determine how it was originally equipped. If it has an NCRS award, the Judging sheets would also tell how well it scored, and how it was equipped as presented
Congrats on the new acquisition, and enjoy it, regardless! Thumbs Up

I don't believe Carfax will be of help.  Unless they've changed their system it's only good for vehicles with the 17-digit VIN which cars prior to 1981 won't have.  A '69 definitely doesn't have 17 digits in its VIN.

Vette(s): 1977 Silver Coupe; built on March 15, 1977. Every option except towing package and roof rack! Just turned 61,000 original miles!
If you join the NCRS, you can get a build date confirmation letter that also includes the Delivery Dealer.  I'm sure you have heard about the elusive build sheets and other possible documentations.  Most people do not find anything on their vehicles.  Also, there is a service in Michigan that recreate an authentic window sticker for your records.  I would be quite pleased to assist you with this if needed.  I can be reached at rtileston@sc.rr.com .
