While working on the car at the body shop one of the guys noticed that the
headlights won't close. They opened & closed just fine before the car was
there. Does anyone have any idea why they won't work now? They're trying
to tell me that I need an auxilary vacuum pump.

What do y'all think?

They knocked a vaccuum line off somewhere, most likely in the front, where the actuator valves are. Open the hood, and look down in there where the canisters are, and see if you see a vac. line loose anywhere. I think I have diagrams for the lines, if you need them.

Another place to look is the line that comes off the manifold and hooks to a round piece with one port on one side and 2 ports on the other. Its just a little smaller than the diameter of a quarter. I pulled one of the vac hoses off the side that has 2 ports and my headlights went up while the vette was running.

I would also look for pinched vaccuum line. If they removed the hood or disturbed the lines, it could be a simple fix. I would start checking vaccuum from the headlight and aux. switch and work my way forward to the headlight relays. If there is vaccuum at the relays then it could be the accualtors but I doubtful that they would both go out at the same time. I still think it will be a pinched line.

Hope this helps!

I have pretty much the same problem. After  they installed the a/c system, my headlights and wiper door open when I turn off the ignition, unless I rev the engine up and turn it off, then they stay down. They said my check valve didn't work (which it doesn't). Would that make the lights and wiper door open when I turn off the engine??? I've traced all the lines and as far as I can tell, everything is hooked-up right.longhorn29438836.7525462963

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...
