I'm working on fixing my headlights and have a question for y'all. When I pull the headlight switch I get the sound of rushing air. What could cause this?

Ya...prolly one or more of the vac lines on the headlight switch, or over-ride is loose....time to stand on yer head under the dash!

Early on I had the same problem, the over ride switch had a crack in it where the previous owner jammed a golf tee into one of the ends....I guess he was too cheap to fix the vac line or buy a 10 cent vac cap......LMAO!!!!

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
Just a thought, what condition is your dash in and your speakers?
The reason for asking is there is a lot of things that go on under the dash that can be fixed eaier if the dash is out.
Do not pull it unless you indent to replace it as it most likely will not take the bending with out cracking it takes to get it out. But if it is cracked and you plan on replacing it make there is lot of thinks that become easier to do.

I see in the pic that the headlights are up..do they ever go down...if not start looking for the leaks..sounds like the leak is somewhere after the switch but I wouldn't say its the only one..

If the leak is at the light assy... rebuilding the headlight assemblies is not a bad job and not tooo expensive for the kit.... Will make a hell of a difference too.
