I have entered Tux a few times in different shows. Have a few trophies in the garage ta keep him company on those cold winters nites...
Don't do it much anymore, I would rather go and look then leave. Or,I go when my darling bride is willing. I have a friend who loves to sit at the shows all day and chat. I sometimes I let him take Tux... an go then I drop in on him. He probally won't be doin that now. He is now a proud owner of a shiney red C4 coupe. Either way it's all good!
Let's hear it ya'll any stories?

I started my "Show" career with this car('74) in '97, not long after I bought it. It was a turd, but I showed it as "Unfinished". Apparently, it wasn't unfinished enough to win anything except rude comments.

Once the paint was done, things changed. The first show it was in after the paint, it took 2nd place in the "'70s" class. My club friend with a '75 took first.
After that, it was win-win-win! 12 shows in the first year, 12 1st or 2nd places. Going to the shows was getting to be an every week-end thing. After a while, tho, it got to be less fun. We got burned out too quickly.
The next to the last show we went to a few years ago, my car got "beat out" by a '70 LT1, with paint that looked like it had been applied with a roller, rusty rims w/no trim rings or center caps, and about a quart of oil standing on the intake. The old "Good Buddy" car club voting system. We weren't members of that club...

Last summer, we took it(by invitation) to a show at an Antique Mall. This was a "Judged" show, judged by members of the club that put it on. Apparently, this club was big on hanging as much gaudy crap on the cars as possible...surprise... no trophy for the "Apple"

We have decided we have too many trophies now...no room to put them anymore.(It's the easy way out!

My favorite win, however, was at a judged show in '98. It was put on by a local Boys Club, and that's who judged it. I was in the '70 class, against all kinds of lowriders, and $10,000 custom paint jobs of the Virgin Mary, as well as the ricers, and Musturds that abound around here. Won 2nd place there, and am as proud of that one as any. It was so hot that day, my buddy with the '75 had the bottoms of his tenny-sneakers melt off!
Local shows can be a lot of fun, tho, if taken in stride, and not every week-end. You just have to not get too caught up in the winning part. Just go, enter, look around, and have FUN! If you do happen to win something....BONUS!

At one Corvette Club of America show it received several trophies...including one for "Best C3" and voted "Dealers Choice" (by the salesmen at the Chevy dealer hosting the show). The $250 cash and $25 gift certificate for speed shop merchandise was pretty good as well.
Another all Corvette show it received "Best Stock Corvette".
My favorite award I received for the car is the first one...at an all-make car meet my car won a trophy that says simply "Best Ride". That one is the most satisfying.
