Been thinking about Hagerty Insurance for the CE for a while now. Went online and got a price quote and couldn't believe how cheap it was. Does anybody have them? I would like some info about them, and their reliability, before I really decide to sign up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

George, family is great, thanks for asking. On their website you can plug in for a free quote. 1982 is the "youngest" car listed, so I would assume they would insure it. I know, don't get my hope up until I talk to someone.

Chris,
Get a quote from this link, that's who I have and they were cheaper than Hagarty with less deductible. They advertise in the NCRS Driveline. I've talked to people who had claims and had no problem with them.

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
Hagerty is supposed to be a good insurance company. The way I hear it is that they will insure your car for whatever value you want. They don't go in for "Blue book" values as they are skewed numbers in favor of auto dealerships.
Heard a quick story of someone who owned a Chevy Nova and wanted to insure it for $30K. Hagerty at first balked, but when shown the proper receipts they authorized the amount, and his premiums were not expensive.
From what I've heard, they also do not limit your mileage. I am going to be checking into them as well very soon. Let me know how you make out with both leads.

The company that I use also insures on agreed value, not on blue book. They have different mileage policies so that you can reduce your premiums according to your miles you drive. I'm sure they are both good companies, just a matter of personal preference.

Chris,
I just changed my insurance this past March was amazed the big range of what some of these companies charge for the same insurance. In my case, I went from $ 600 a year with Condon & Skelley to $200 a year with my current carrier. I also lowered my deductibles from $500 to $100 and increased my stated value of my car by $ 3000. Good luck.

I have had Hagerty for 3 years now. No claims, but I believe they are part of a
larger company. I think Continental.

I originally considered getting insurance from one of the "classic car" insurers but opted to go with the company I have my other cars insured with ( State Farm ). I am insured for full replacement value, have no problems with mileage or how I use the car ( some companys supposedly won't honor claims unless you are on your way to, from or at a show or event ). I have had only one claim so far for a broken windshield. They replaced it with original dated glass ( from ZIP ) with no questions asked. The cost...not cheap but is costs less per year than my wifes 1995 Jimmy and less than my 1998 Jimmy. I drive the car anywhere and park it where ever I happen to need to stop with no worries about theft, damage or insurance claims. Look close at the cut rate companys...usually you get what you pay for somewhere along the line.
