Can somebody tell me where the headlight overide switch is? I can't find it. Also my 81 has those smoke tailight covers and I want them off!!! They are not screwed on. It looks like velcro or something. I don't like them. I found out that my tail lights have those led bulbs in them. If I can get those covers off my tailights will be brighter. I can't beleive those things aren't IleagelCry

Come on guys I know a lot of you know this. At least the overide switch. I'm going back out there a look again. It don't seem to be in the same place as my 82.

The over-ride switch should be in the same place as they all are...under the steering column. Maybe the PO took it off?

The tail-light covers may be only stuck on with velcro tape, or glued on with sillycone. You should be able to pull them off. Some have little tab/hooks on them, that hook on to the sides of the tail-light housings...they usually break anyway, then you have to glue them on. Maybe a hair dryer on them for a few minutes might help?

btw...congrats on the new toy!
Hope you're feeling better, these days!

Thanks Adam. I'm better but I have to relay on Perocet every day. I'll be on it until the good loard takes me. I'll probably go on the Fentenal patch on my next visit. You are right about the switch. I don't see it. What can I do. Only one light (pass side) comes up. I triied to help the other but it won't move. It has alot of vacume I guess??

Mine is mounted directly under the steering column. I found it when I was changing out the headlight switch assembly and had no idea what the heck it was. A vacuum line connects between the switch assy and headlight over ride switch.

Vette(s): 1980 L-48 still in the middle of a frame-off.
Feel around under the center section.  It may be buried under there because the mount broke off.

Corvettes and women are the same...You want to make love to them but they keep breaking down.

On my '81 the over ride (pull down) switch is located about an inch to the left of the steering column centerline. The duct for the dash heat/air vents sets down a little on my vette and a casual glance can mistake the switch for a fastner or clip to hold the duct in place. It's black and blends right in with the duct itself. Maybe this will help a little.

Vette(s): 1980 all org. with 18000 act. miles dk claret with matching interior..Eagle alloys ..loaded..excellent cond.
Remove the  screws holding the cover under the column and you will see the vaccum switch. Two small screws hold the switch to the cover. Hope this helps...
