Ecklers Reunion

Went to the Ecklers Reunion yesterday. Great weather low 80s, nice originals, modified, and some customs. I had my car in the show in the original class. The first judge was done, the second judge completed the exterior, the interior, and was ready to check the engine compartment. I pulled the cable and ...... nothing. Left latch opened by the right did not. The crossover cable broke. Fortunately I have been through this exercise a couple times before. Found someone with a long screwdriver and was able to pop the hood. All in under 2 minutes. That cable break cost me first place, but I guess I am still glad to at least salvage second place. The cable is only 9 months old and broke on the plastic connector, the same as the last one. Anyone else having any problems with this piece breaking?
