I've looking at some parts for a '79 c3. Sometimes they are marked as early release or late release. What's the difference and how do you tell?

I have a 79 and It is a late model with a 85 mph speedometer. The early models had the 140mph so that might be one way to tell the difference

Vette(s): 1979 frost blue with midnight blue interior
The early models also have 3 compartments in the back instead of 2.
