After many years of crawling around under cars on a creeper ,,,,,, I've had enough ! I started construction of a drive on lift for my garage . I'm taking pictures as I progress and am more than willing to share with anyone that is interested . At this point it looks like I can complete the lift for the price that it would cost for just shipping a unit to my residence !!

Is this something that the average "Joe" can do with basic hand tools or do you need fancy stuff like a welder or a black top hat with a rabbit included?

Sounds interesting and I would like to see some pictures as you work this through....I need a lift, but the way my garage is built, it cannot be anything that goes too high......looks forward to some pics.......and thanks in advance.......

I made this lift with the garage heigth a main consideration . It raises the bottom of the tires 22 inches off the ground . The drive on ramps each are 19 inches wide . I am using 2.5 inch square tubing and am going to skin it with 11 gauge or 1/8 steel that I will have sheared to size . I will e/mail pics to you both of my progress so far . This raises the trans etc about 30 inches above you and is a very comfortable position to do work .

George,
Sounds like you are gonna have to take advantage of one of those lifetime membership privledges and set up a web site on C3VR and post pics and descriptions of that lift. I know I will be looking for them
Just think of all the postage you could save on e-mails by putting them on a local web page
