Figured I update you...
Finally have that vette back home after having the engine put into the car. Moving caused me to have someone else do it for me. I shoud have done it myself. Cost to much for him to skip on the details, like proper timing and choke set up. Granted he did do a nice job on some stuff but when he put on an 8" air cleaner because he likes the look over the one i gave him, I knew I'd have some clean up to attend.
I'm putting in insulation on the floor so I took the new interior out. Started to clean it up and the floor seemed to get worse and worse. Now I get to replace a good part of the floor. Aren't surprises grand!! For those who haven't had the opportunity to rebuild a classic car, these little things are to be expected. I really can't complain, this is the first "Oh Crap" moment for me and this car. Since it sat for so long, even if it was indoors, I wasn't that shocked.
One wierd thing, two seat belt bolts are stripped and I can't find a set of standard bolts to fit. I really don't see why I should fork over $40-$50 for 4 bolts If I can get 4 grade 8 bolts for less than $2.
All that's left is exhaust, check trailing arms, check all lights( they worked fine pre-storage) and final vacumm lines for headlights and we are on the road!
Dave C..........My mantra: I can not be bought!! Long and short term leases available.
In the words of Zora Arkus-Duntov "Is your seat belt fastened? Alright, Let's go"
Yeah, I know, Shut up Dave.

glad to hear that you have an end in sight........... or at least you think so! I am finding that once you start on a vette it never ends. I find myself upgrading one thing after another. Dad calls it the labor of love! Wife calls it crazy! But one thing I am enjoying it. Good luck and enjoy your vette!

I can't decide if I enjoy working on it more than driving it, but then again I don't have a lot of driving in this car to compare.
I was telling my 13 yr old daughter(and head mechanic) that our year vettes are known as sharks. She suggested that i switch out the horns to make the sound track to Jaws

I think your head mechanic is on to something - let me know when they're ready! Have fun and good luck with both the car and the daughter.
