Did All '68 and '69 Vettes Have AIR Smog Pumps? I'm hearing that only California cars had them? But then my books say that all '68's and '69's had them installed at the factory? Which is true?

Don't know if mine is a Calif. car but it did have smog junk on it. I still ahve the original exhaust headers and they have the holes pluged. I never did get the AIR pump with the car, guess it hit the trash can about 34 years ago. 
Back in '75, the first time I put my "new" '74 in the shop, the mechanic asked me if I wanted to remove the pump and tubing.

They all had it from the factory.
every single one of them I believe the cali cars also had other things done like different camshafts and such.

I am an original owner of a 1968 convertible. All 1968's that I looked at when I was buying had smog pumps. I was told that they all did when I asked if I could option it out.

I HAVE A '68, 327, AND I DON'T SEE A SMOG PUMP, AT LEAST AS I REMEMBER THEM. IS IT LIKE A SMALL A/C COMPRESSOR THING? I BOUGHT 'USED' AND SO FAR I HAVE NOT HEARD ONE PERSON ASK WHERE IT IS. I ASSUME IT WAS BELT DRIVEN?
