1108776 is the part number for the starter motor.
6= Last digit of the year (1966-1976, etc)
M= month= December
16= day of the month
4= 4th shift
I haven't looked up the part number to see what it is specified for, but the starter motor was made Dec 16, of either '66 or '76...either way, it does not appear to be original to your '69.

Thanks for the information. I was interested in seeing if it was original. If so I would have it rebuilt. I guess i could keep it for a spare, or use it for a core return.

The only Corvette listing I see for the 1108776 starter motor is late '75, and all of '76, both years for automatic trans only. This would make the date code of '76 the most reasonable.
Does it have a cast iron nose, or an aluminuminum nose? Cast iron noses were normally only used for 4 speed cars, and the alum noses used for automatics.
