The "C 15" portion of your is your trim tag is the Body Build Date. As defined by the NCRS Judging Manual: "The body build date is the date that the body passed the point on the assembly line where the (trim) plate is installed. At this point the body is painted, but has no wiring , upholstery or trim and it is not mated to the frame. It remained on the assembly line for at least a day, and maybe several days, depending on weekends and holidays. For this reason, we refer to this date as the approximate build date."
I am pretty sure that in '79 the first month of production would have been August of '78. So the body build date code would have started with A = August, B = Sept, etc. So your code indicates a body build date of October 15, 1978.
The only way to determine what options your '79 came with would be to find the build sheet. The build sheet is also known as the tank sheet since many copies have been found taped to the top surface of the gas tank. There are no GM records available for the 79 model year. If I am not mistaken, once production moved from St. Louis to Bowling Green, GM started keeping records. One other potential is if your car was an original Canadian delivered Corvette. I believe the Canadian government kept detailed records.
Hope this was helpful!!!

JJ -- test your Build Date (C15) against your VIN. If your car was produced in the third month of production (C), the last five digits of your VIN should be comparatively low. Ending number for August 1978 production was 770; 4612 for September; and 9292 for October. Your VIN should fall between XX4612 and XX9292. I'm guessing XX6952 or in that range. How close did I get

So there's no laminated option sheet like the regular passenger cars had in the glove box or trunk or underhood, huh? I would have thought that they were doing that by '79

Wow!! At least somebody is doing some searching in the archives!
I don't think GM started putting the RPO/Std Equipment code decals in until the '84 Corvettes. I could be wrong...I know all of them since then have had them...
