Well thanks I guess I will take off the hood and go to town on it. Taking off the whole body does not appel to me. The frame is good I just wanted it to be easer to work on. I forgot that the Corvette gods do not let such things happen that easy.

Been there, done that! I got my 71 in May of 06. Dropped a valve in August. Replaced the engine, had it running again in November. It was down in January briefly with a starter/battery cable problem. I still wouldn't trade it for anything (of course, I say that now ). These cars will never be finished. Another example - it took me 3 hours to replace my headlights. It's all worth it when I'm crusing down the road with the side pipes blaring!
