Hi kvetty.....

In my opinion you might be able to baffle out particles that enter the ram area but the moisture would soak your filtering system. Thats why I want to suck my air from the back. When in motion, the moisture will go up and over..........i thinkConfused

The feds and state legislators did.  Not only did the Corvette have to meet fuel and emissions standards in the 70s, they also had to meet reduced noise laws.  Open element air cleaners were some of the first items to go.

Coolkvetty, let me know how that works.  i am looking to put another hood on my '78 and i like the looks of the twin turbo hood.  my car sometimes runs a little warm, not bad, but i don't feel it is getting enough air.
