I take it kind of personal when folks start bashing other Corvette Drivers for not waving. (keyword being drivers)

I hate it when folks sterotype other folks.... I am a C5 owner, have owned a C4, and own a C3. I wave at all other Vettes if I see them. I am Passionate about being a Corvette Enthusisiast.

Not everyone feels the same as I do nor should I expect them too be. It doesn't make them dumb, stupid. or jerks. It does make them individuals though with a choice to choose.

We should educate those in the Corvette Community who are unaware of the History of the Wave.

This is by far a better approach than sterotyping unjustly or name calling someone in a passing vehicle for not reacting as we would wish them too.

I remember way back when I had no idea why all of these folks kept waving at me. I am not sure that my wife and I waved back to all of them.

Likewise, I sure hope that I don't pass someone in a C3 and I don't see them and therfore don't wave.

With a little luck maybe they will catch me at the next gas station and we can talk some and become friends.....

Just my $.02.......
don`t take it personal Larry,  i too own a C5. just this weekend i drove 260miles round trip saw several c5 & c6 on the rode , not one of them waved back at me. Confused I just keep waving hoping they will catch on. By the way, when i got the c5 ( that my wife mostly drives) she wouldn`t wave at all. She said it was stupid. Well after some explaining from me she understood the point and now waves. There is hope .

Aww shucks Bob if folks don't wave it doesn't bother me in the least.

It does bother me when they speak out against other Vette folks in public. Especially to the extent of calling the other folks names.

I'm pretty thick skinned and tend to speak my mind.

Well, I reckon he put us in our politically incorrect place. Still, sounds like a C-5&6 driver, tho. Rolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing longhorn2942008-10-24 08:17:08

I'm a current C3 and C6 owner...and I wave all the time! Thumbs%20Up

I never gave it any thought about the age of a Vette being considered just another old car. Warped thinking IMHO. A Vette is a Vette is a Vette...done, simple, end of story.

If others don't wave...it could be a circumstance preventing them from doing so...however, if he/she does not wave and it is purposefully not done, then that other guy/gal never did wave from any car he/she ever owned to begin with. Don't feel slighted...those 'types' , thank God, are few and far between. Wink

My husband and I just finished restoring our 77 Vette and were able to drive it for a few weeks before putting it away for winter. It was a long process of blood sweat and tears Ouch that took all summer working weekends and long evenings. In the end it was all worth it. I can't wait to have a full summer next year to Vroom! Vroom!

I used to own a BMW back in the early 70's and us "Beamer" drivers would always flash the front headlights to say a "Hello" to each other in passing. Then the "Yuppies" started to by them and it all stopped.

I love it when I'm able to give a friendly big wave to a fellow Vette as I pass by. It brings back those fond memories when the BMW owners used to do that. I have also noticed that some newer Vette owners just look at you clueless. Like a lot of you have already said they probably don't even know how to change the oil on there car! hahaha

But unlike the BMW owners the C-1, C-2 and C-3 (even C-4's) drivers will always have that special bond.  Because we all know that love it takes to keep these cars on the road.

Keep on waving!Clap

Ok, you got my dandruff up!!! I'll have to step in and agree with TUX on this one. I own both C3 & C6. I even took the C6 to the gathering this year due to mechanical problems with the C3. I thought everyone was real corvette lovers and we had a great time. Dont group everyone into one catagory.

I think this is gittin kinda silly. No one is saying that just because one owns a C5 or C6 it automatically make you an arrogant snob, ignorant, jerk, a-hole or mechanically challenged, especially if they own an older model Vette because most of them already understand the Corvette wave concept and are true enthusiast. There are about a zillion more C5's and C6's than there are older models out there and all kinds of reasons people buy and drive them. Some do fall into the above catagories, some don't. The fact remains that the majority of them don't wave. Some don't see you, some don't care, some don't know you're waving at them. Mostly, I think, they just don't have the bond that we have.
Like others have said, I'll just keep waving. If they don't wave back, it ain't gonna ruin my day. Wink
