I like this one that you've got up here now. Black and white is always cool and should show up on a window. Or, maybe all white? Great white? lol Decal paper? Can you just go to like Office Depot and get it? Does the paper run through a regular type printer or do you need something special to do them? I'm just curious about it that's all.

That is a pretty cool decal for a window. And yes Darla. You can pick up decal paper from an Office Max or store like that. It should be with the other photo paper, that's where it is in the Office Max near me. And it goes through a regular printer. I tried a few but never stuck them on my windows. I'm not much of a sticker person. I like the vinyl look without the surrounding clear plastic.

I got the decal paper at CompUSA for $10 and will use it in an ink jet printer. My car is a 1980 that is Claret on the outside. I am thinking I will make the decal Maroon or close to the Claret color.

I have to ask a couple questions to those of you who have used the decal paper. Is the ink between the paper and the window? Doesn't the heat from the sun melt the ink? I was kinda under the impression that a "professionally " made decal had a coating over the ink so it would not run and get onto what ever it was attached to. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to put anyone down, I am just very leary of doing anyting that may do some damage to the car It is hard enough to keep it looking nice as it is. Also, many of the regular pics I print will fade in about 18 months. Do the decals fade also?

Those are some good questions Glenn. I was wondering the same thing about the coating to prevent the ink from running. And you are sooooo right is saying that it's hard enough keeping them clean. I'm just so jazzed that I'll have mine back in a few weeks I hope. I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with Zaino products and my garage.

This decal paper sticks to the window and the ink does not touch the window. They would be temporary. Because the image does not touch the window you actually have to "mirror" the image and print it backwards, that way when you put it on the window it looks right.

However, you can extend the life of the decal to almost forever if you spray the dry ink image with Scotchguard after you print it. The Scotchguard works good for perserving older labels on air cleaners and under the hood labels, like emissions, also.

Here are some different ones. and here is one that I like but I would have to do some altering and get the local race car decal dud around here to make them up special.

I am sure that info on how the decals work will make a lot of people feel better about using them. Sounds like a project that I might have to try out. Let me see now, that would be somewhere around project number 811 give or take a few dozen. There are sooo many very neat and unique things these C3s lend themselves to, as long as you are willing to slide a little away from factory original. I think it is a little funny though, I do know people who want to keep their cars stock but seem to have no objection to , shall we say " a little " engine work. Please guys and gals, I did not say everyone does it, so PLEASE don't jump on me. |bouncy|

Hi All,
There is a spray to coat decals with after you print them. Here is a good web site on decals. They sell in quantity but they also have directions on how to make them. They talk about ceramic decals that are resistant to heat. Not sure how they attach or if they would work for cars. Hope that helps.
