Hi,
I have a 1982 vette with an engine code of V0105 ZBA 1C5103808. I know the VIN derivitive is the last 9 characters and the "hidden" VIN on the chassis matches those 9 as well. Can I build the first 8 characters of the VIN based on general info listed in VIN decoder listings so I can register it??
Thanks in advance.

I guess I don't unnerstand the question. Sounds kinda fishy to me, but...I don't unnerstand.

Sounds like you may have a car with no title, or there's a problem with the title?

Sounds like you don't have the VIN number on the car but as Joel says it should be on the title..if you have loan on it and need the number it should be on the title the bank has..you can call them and get it..or it should be on the bill of sale if you got it from a dealer..hth.
