I went over to the old corvette assembly plant in St. Louis MO, this morning on the bike. Its completely gone, the old plant was demolished in 2002 and the the rest was leveled a few years ago to make a giant warehouse. I did take a couple of pictures of it though, but first let me say no one should attempt to take any pitures of large warehouse in st. louis with full riding gear on and a full face helmet or security will think you are a terrorist so after that slight misunderstanding they asked "ME" not to come back! Well here is the best pic I got.  Ouch

Thanks for the update. It is a shame that a part of the Corvette heritage is gone.

Yes its a shame GM couldn't think ahead and save the old plant but judging from the pictures I found from 1981 the place looked like it was ready to fall in now I know why my factory paint needs to be stripped off and the body  redone as for as the story I gave I told them I come from northern Il. and was doing a freelance story on the corvette I don't think they bought it but when I asked them when was the last time you saw a redheaded terrorist? fron IL. Wink, they let me go. Here is another pic - I only got 3 of them.

Thanks for the attempt to bring back gala memories my friend. I guess for ol Tux the story is now compelete .... he truly can't go home.... Hope Bowling Green doesn't throw any of his adoption papers.

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
What a shame.  I am trying to put together a trip to the St Louis area in a few weeks.  Given what you've got there, I may not make the effort to find the site.

Thanks

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
