I just found out that GM offers a free Restoration Package for all model years of corvette.  I called this morning and ordered one for my 72.  The woman I spoke to recorded my VIN, and said that the package would include a complete list of GM parts used in the vehicle, and all production numbers and information for that year, and would include information about my car.

I asked her if it was just generic info for 1972, or if it would be specific to my car.  She said her information wasn't very detailed on that subject, but that everything led her to believe that they would use my VIN to tailor the guide to reflect the invoice for my vehicle, and that all information sent to me would be for my car alone.  Somehow I find that hard to believe, but she said it would take about four weeks to research my vehicle and get the Package to me, so we'll see.  Hey, it's free and at the very least, it will probably give me more information than I have right now.

Here's the number:  1-800-222-1020

After you go through all of the promts to get a live person, just ask for the Restoration Package for corvettes.  They'll ask basic questions such as name, address, and phone number, VIN and year of corvette, and it's free.

It won't have specific to you vin. It is a general package. I sent for it awhile ago. Invoice at the earliest is 1977. And some of those vin's were lost. Dealer invoice maybe obtained from GM Media Archives for a $50.00 fee.

I got the "Restoration Packet" for my '74 a few years back. It is basically the "Technical Information" book for that year. It lists all options, and standard equipment for the vehicle, and specs. It also details the paint process, body/frame measurements, engine/trans/diff specs, tires, etc. This is used to "train" the salesmen/dealers on what is available. It is NOT coded to your specific VIN #, but will have the latest info for vehicles in that VIN range. They ask for your VIN so they can record it, for future reference.
When I called about one for the '85, they sent me about 10-12 copies of the build sheet("tank sticker"), but nothing else!! (Now, the NCM charges for the same build sheet copies, but I got them for free.)Adams' Apple38801.8207523148
