JC Whitney still has them, as well as other places like that. Really cheap crap, too. I installed plenty of them back in the day. Not really suggested for standard transmissions like the Poop-Car, tho.
Some of the better ones used a speed signal from the speedo cable, but the cheapy ones, you have to use a hose clamp, and clamp a magnet onto the drive shaft, and then mount a sensor to the body to read the magnet....pos, and a PITA to get right.
Just get a brick, or hook up a choke cable to the throttle....it'll work about the same...

I thought all Corvettes had cruise control. When I mash my gas petal to the floor, it just won't go any faster. Confused

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
I had one of those JC Whitney ones on my car back in college.  It actually worked pretty well.

But I don't think I'd put one on my Vette

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I installed the audiovox CCS100 in my 77 and it works great.Joel is right you have to mount a magnet on the driveline and a pickup in the tranny valey. that is one of the hardest parts. they run about $90.00. I have the same unit in my 90 toyota, also works great. I also installed one in a 1970 240Z. they are way better that the original cruise installed in the vette. here is a Link http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=341067&langId=-1

Sorry I don't remember where I bought the kit I installed on my 1982 F-150 (w//4-spd manual).  It had two magnets that were epoxyed to the transmission end of the driveshaft and a sensor unit was mounted off to the side.  Hook-up to the throttle cable near the carb was easy as was mounting the control unit on the firewall.  The actuator switch mounted on the turn signal stalk and there was a chain link between the brake and clutch pedals that would disengage the cruise if either pedal was pushed in.  The hardest part was dialing in the unit's adjustment settings for keeping the vehicle speed constant, but once it was set-up I never had to fiddle with it again.
