Anchoring points

That's the day!

I am moving and the Vette is moving too. It has got its own 20' container. Does anyone can tell me what the best anchoring points are? The idea is to strap the car in the rear and in the front, on both sides to hold it firmly against the floor of the container with no chance to move in any directions. I was told containers some time are dropped from a few feet high during transfer or unloading. The car has better to be tightly secured.

I think that would try to have two straps forward and the same rearward, I wouldn't strap to a susp. part, and I would chock all four wheels, if the container has wood floors I would nail the chocks after strapping down the car, I would try to run the straps from the frame or front and rear cross members, the bottom of the frame have slotted holes at the rear where you can hook the frame by the rear cross member, then I would put my car cover on the get four surplus weather ballons and fill them half way, put one front and rear left and right. anips38524.7376273148

Should I strap the frame and put pressure on the suspensions or should I strap the lower parts of the suspension not to put pressure on it ?

I personally would hook to the frame, I believe the small amount of set you put on the suspension won't hurt anything, its better for it to move up and down with the susp. moving in its unrestricted normal arch than it is to have the susp. tied down and the susp. yanked on when the container truck hits a bump,susp. damage could accur, the hold down straps or chains are ment to keep the car from moving fore and aft, not up or down or sideways,have you thought about having the car shipped in a enclosed trailer by a lic. ins. carrier?    

Funny enough, the slots in the rear frame are just above the exhaust. Beside the fact that it is not easy to access, I am afraid the straps might push too much sideways on the exhaust.

there are two sloted holes one on each side on the bottom of the side rails just ahead of the foreward side of the rear wheel opening just about in line with the center of the rear tire, in front there are two bumper brackets one on each side with three bolts through the frame, you might come off one of the bolts on each side, you might have to go to the hardware store and pick up hooks or eyes to adapt to whatever you are trying to hook or bolt to.
