air cleaner help

i am having a problem finding an air cleaner that will fit under the hood. i have a 74 454 with an edlebrock performer and a q-jet. is there any chrome air cleaners out there that anyone may have used with a set up similar to mine.i bought the car with a 14 inch chrome one on it but it is a little beat up and would like to replace it, don't know what kind it is. it seems like the air cleaner needs to be 2 1/4 inch or less to fit and it seems like mine has a 1 inch drop?????? thanks for any help. phil 

Look in a Summit Racing or a Jeg's catalog or their websites...they both carry drop air cleaners in several diameters and depth of drop. That should solve your dilemma.

On top of that Phil, tell Summit or Jegg's what your set up is and they will hook you up in the conversation.

good luck, it seems like none have the right amount drop down to fit under the hood. If you find one please let me know as i want to put a performer on my 1974 454 and have yet to find a way to make it work.

Holley makes one that may well work. It's a bonnet with the filter elements are on either side of the carburetor. Not cheap but should work. Summit Racing and Jeg's sell it.

Call Edlebrock tech support.  They were great helping me.  You can buy the part at Summit cheaper.  Some of the Edlebrock techs will even tell you that.

I have a 454 with an Edelbrock Air Gap manifold. I used a standard base with a 2" filter element and a K&N Filter top to make up for the narrow element. This set up works good for me.
