I'm going to need my hood removed for engine-bay cleanup and restoration.
Since we're going to have a house full of young muscle on Thanksgiving day I thought it would be a great time to have a hood removal party.
Does anyone have an idea as to the best way to get that big surfboard up and off the car without somebody getting they're head stuffed under it???
Also, how much does that thing weigh?
The good thing about this removal party is...we can have the same guys back for Easter Sunday and have a "hood replacement party" !!

if memory serves correctly... only 4 bolts holding on the hood to the hinges... would suggest taking a marker and outlining the area where the hinge plate bolts to the hood... and it really doesnt weigh all that much.. around 50 pounds maybe?... 60?... wasnt all that much... two persons can handle it easy... (might also think about taking some masking type tape and go along the edges of the hood and fender areas too.. so not to scratch or chip...)... (live and learn...)

There are 4 bolts that hold the hinge, and 2 that attach the hood support. Its not very heavy, my 15 yr old son and I took mine off. Just do as Jim suggests with the marker and tape to protect the body.

I had to weigh my hood so I could ship it and it weighd 35 lbs very light. Took mine off myself no problem, much easier with an extra pair of hands, well, unless they got some butterfingers then you could be in trouble. A blanket helps so it don't slide around and hit anything. Have a nice soft place to set it down before you take it off so you don't chip a corner setting it down. Paul (Lukesvette's) not kidding without the hood on you got all the room in the world to poke around in, kinda makes you want some quick release hinges.

Why? You can clean up and restore with the hood in place. If you want to remove it, two folks is all you need. Mark the hinge positions before you remove the bolts.
Now, if it's a party you want, no real excuses needed, but I would remove the hood BEFORE the festivities get underway!!
