So as my OCD for everything original on my '73 grows (and grows), I posted yesterday that I have verified my original 43 year old front and rear shock absorbers. The rubber grommets are a little dry and worn, but the shocks are in remarkably good shape and still function well.
Rear shocks - Delco Products PLIACELL 299 72 (Oct. 25th, 1972)
Front shocks - Delco Products PLIACELL 305 72 (Oct. 31st, 1972)
I'm seriously thinking about removing all four for a gentle clean-up and re-install.
Now here comes the bizarro part - I downloaded the NCRS Judging sheets for my car to get further detail on judged items. Under the heading of Interior - Section 12. Map Pocket, Rear Storage etc., I found reference to "Seat shims & bag". Having never heard of this one before, of course I hit the internet and come up with this:

When I gutted the interior of my car last summer to clean-up and install new carpeting, I came across these odd steel washers and plates installed on the driver's seat back. Thinking someone fabricated these parts to aid someone a bit shorter than me to see up over the dash, I just took them out and threw into my spare parts bin. Then I also remembered the odd cotton bag that was stuffed in with the owners manual, I believe have the remnants of the original shim kit for my car !!
Working on these cars for many years - I've never heard of or seen these !! Anybody else ??
The washers were used under the seat bottom adjustable screw stops to prop the seat back angle forward. The plates were mounted under the latch mechanism mount to compensate for the addition gap between the seat bottom and back that allowed the catch to still function properly. Looks like I'm missing two of the plates and two washers, but that's okay with me. I am just amazed that all of this still remained with the car.
A bit farther down the rabbit hole I go !!

That is VERY cool John! I'm aware of these (can't recall where or how I heard about them), and I've searched my 74 for the ones that came with it, but so far, no luck. Glad your having fun with your continuing adventures!
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I have them for my '74...they were all installed on the seats.I dint have the bag, but I was able to buy one. Nice find! Just another reason to NEVER pitch anything in the trash when ya get a car....ya never know what might be of value later down the road...or rabbit hole....
