[QUOTE=dwright]It's good to see C3's selling for more than their original price.
Gives me hope.LOL

Not mine, I have the original Bill of Sale and the sticker was $13k something and it sold April 20th 1978 for $21.5K. I don't think any of these Pace Cars sold for the sticker price.

I think Mark is correct. I believe there was a hefty dealer premium attached to the sticker. Isn't it true that each dealer got only one Pace Car? If so, these cars were slim pickins'. I have always been fond of the PC color scheme.

Yes Scott, each dealership was allowed to order only 1 Pace Car from the factory.  Rumor also has it that people had offered as much as 75K for one and could not get one so dealers were marking them up quit a bit. Actual fact, some dealerships had tried to back out of sales agreements and were sued. All those cases were won by the customers.

Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary L82 4spd (M21) Red Leather. Pace Car is in the hands of a new caretaker.
I was doing a job for a guy back in '78 that had just bough one brand spanking new. Everyone was drooling over it, (except his wife). He was a big shot tire dealer in town, so he probaley had a few connections over at the local cheby dealer. The way he talked, I'm sure he paid more than he should have for it, but he was going to make a killing on it in a few years. Never heard what happen to it.
