Was it possible to special order a big block radiator from the factory, on a '68 327/300? If so, this may explain why mine doesn't have a metal expansion tank, eh?
Looks like it has a big block style radiator in it.

I didn't think so, but don't claim to be an expert. Lots of things can be changed in 35 years. Is there no evidence there ever was an expansion tank?

According to the Fact Book of the 1968-1972 Stingray, the 327/300 came without an expansion tank. The 327/350 did.

If it is an automatic it should have the big block rad in it. My 70 350/300 auto has no expansion tank and a big block radiatior. It is because of the extra cooling needed for the auto trans fluid.

The 68 SB came with a copper (Commonly known as a BB) radiator if it had A/t and/or A/C.

I know my '69 350/350 A/C car (manual trans) had it's original radiator when I bought it. It is a BB radiator with all of the correct shrouds. All of the numbers match and it came with the build sheet so everything should be correct. It was originally ordered from a Texas dealership so the larger radiator makes sense. It also does not have an expansion tank and looks like it never did.
Even though I have yet to find a book that lists the larger radiator as an option I have seen the same combination on other chrome bumpered small blocks.
By the way, good luck ordering hoses and seals. Everybody will tell you that that combination doesn't exist.
