I agree with everyone KEEP it. You will definitely regret it if u sell. If you are mechanical at all what you say is wrong are not that difficult or expensive to fix. Heck the brake hoses are only bout $10 each or less and easy to replace. The biggest pain is bleeding them. Personally the fixing it is a big part of the joy of owning it. I have a 74 that needed a lot done and so far the only thing I have hired done was having my radiator re-cored. If you were closer to Missouri I would be happy to help you do the repairs for free. Be brave and fix it yourself and you will be glad you did.
Besides it just wouldn't be right for the pres of this group to sell his dad's car

Not to start anything but how are the rest of the body mounts? I have seen for myself what happens if the back ones are rusted out, the rocker channels were gone as well. Good luck and keep the faith.

Come on guy...I spent right around $8,000 for mine when I bought it and have put at least that much more into it since having. Get the safety features fixed first. Top priority should always be safety. You don't have the convenience of having a lot of sheet metal protecting you in a crash. Fiberglass shatters and splinters easily so get the brakes fixed and your bushings. From what I've seen of the new Haybes manual I purchased just recently, most of the repairs you need to do are covered in it, and if you've got a friend who can help I'm sure you can do it on your own.

It's funny, because I just told my wife the other day I was thinking of selling the Vette. She told me I was stupid. It's paid off. It's inexpensive to insure and I'll always regret it sometime down the road. God love her!

Reduce your costs, make your priority list and follow through. You don't have to do it all at once. Just take it one fix at a time.

Keep it. You will regret it. Fell in love with them a long time ago. When I was 17 a guy down the street was selling his powder blue '61. I had half the price, needed $900 more from my Dad. He told me to save my money and go to college. So 30 years later after he passed away, I took some of my inheritance and bought my '79. The $900 turned into $9000. As it turned out, I got the money from him anyhow. So I can relate to your situation.
I'll never get my money out of it, but the pleasure I get from driving it, fixing it and being reminded of him each time I get in it is priceless. You'll have to pry my cold, dead hands off the steering wheel before some one elses name is on the title.

Dood after hearing all of the doller amount, I think that 2700 is a good price to get everything you need done. I have had mine a year this month and spent 3000 just getting it drivable, and i still have to get some stuff done to it just to get it "legal". LOL Just pace yourself and make shure that you get it done right. You don't want to shell out that much bread and have to go back in and have to do it again right?
