Well, just got a call.

With replacing all the vauum lines and routing them correctly, and rebuilding the carb I'm already at $900.

Said the tune-up (replacing all tune-up parts) and routing plug wires correctly would be an additional $500.
Replace oil sender: $20
Replace heater hoses: $150

I told him to do it.  So now I'm looking at a $1700 visit there.

Can you say "Money pit"?!

I would have a hard time coughing that up. I try to do the stuff I think  I am capable of. I believe I would be able to do most of the stuff listed there but would have to farm the carb out or just buy a new one and go from there.

Should make it a lot nicer when they do their magic though.

Some guys have the money and the time to really make their Vette top notch

Some guys have the money, but no time to work on it them selves, so somebody else makes it top notch.

Some guys have the time, but no money so it takes longer to make it top notch.

Then there are guys like me with no money and no time, so we just look at it and dream what it could someday be.

Some guys don't have the time or the ability to fix the big problems and probably should not spend the money, but will anyway because they can't stand their Vette running like crap anymore! <<<--- Me!

Well, it's done. $1727 later.

I'll be taking her home tomorrow or Friday.

All I can say is... she better run like never before!

I picked her up today!
So far so good.  No gas smell and she seems to be running much better!

Oh, and I passed a C5 on the way and got to Wave!  (He actually waved first!!) I still love that! Don't get that feeling driving around in my Malibu.

Hey Adam,

My C3 is like one of my kids! When my kid is sick, I get concerned and nurse her back to health. Same with the vette But because they are sick, I'll never hate them - how's that for a corny analogy!!

Anyway, one of your key concerns - the oil pressure - usually it's the the sending unit on the side of the block. When the new engine wet in, was the SU changed? The old one usually starts to read higher pressure as orifice volume decreases due to all the gunk buildup.

$20 part - 10 min job if you take your time....

Oops! Sorry Adam - missed page 2. Glad to hear she's running better - how far are you from the NJ border?

Take care of the kid, you'l feel better too!

Good Luck
