1982 Brake Switch question

Can anyone help with a question? My cruise control sometimes will not disengage when I tap on my brakes. I believe that it may be my brake switch. I purchased a NOS part that is supposed to fit. The part number is 1645516, and a piece of paper inside the box states that it replaces part 25523376. When I squeeze myself under the dash, the part I received looks different, you might say perpendicular, to the replacement part. I have tried to run a cross reference on the part numbers to see if they are a match to no avail. Hopefully some of you guys can tell me if my replacement part should work because once I get under there and working, I would really like to do the swap while I am in the awkward position that it am unsure my body will be able to configure to. Thanks in advance.
