Vette(s): 1978 Corvette Light Blue
Pulled from the swamps of Miami!
Its a driver and back on the road!
I just need 1 Lug Nut after taking a tire off to fix a leaking valve stem. It seemed to not thread right so I am not forcing it.
I have 1000 parts in the basement from the restore but did not save 1 lug nut??????
So online I found a single on in Reedsville PA but they want 3$ for the nut and $17 Shipping?????? I can drive a golf ball to this place with my driver and I'm paying $17 for shipping std mail???????????????????????????
Any suggestions on where I can get a single lug nut online and simple shipping?
Thanks

Was this through an online order system? If you try calling them, since they can manually review and see it's a tiny part, they may be able to process the order for you manually and charge you much less for shipping. Worth a shot, anyway.

Have you tried a local parts store? Or a salvage yard? One or the other should have one.

Hi, They are a universal General Motors part. So, any parts store will carry them. No shipping, only your time and gas.

Forgot to mention - take one with you to the parts store to insure a match.

The alloy rims take specific lug nutz...not likely to find them at a regular parts house, or even tire store.... The Corvette aftermarket places all stock them, tho, I'm sure.

Thanks for the info. I checked the local parts store and they do not carry the version for the 1978 with the mags. I also called corvettes
parts company and they do not budge on the shipping it is what it is with one lug nut or 20 lug nuts???????
I got 2 nuts ordered and on the way as I'm going to a corvette show on Saturday so not many options.
I just can't believe I don't have a few left over from when I redid the car after buying it. Yo would think I would hang on to some just in case but must have tossed the old ones. I got big wooden crates filled with wevery other old part. Live and Learn.
Yes I was surprised that the chain parts store do not carry them and I real;ly doubt the CHevy dealer has them also, I should have called but I'm sure its an order item and they would probably be more actually.
I just thought I would be able to find one online to ship it out quickly but not a big deal.
Thanks for all the suggestions I had already order them soon after I posted so I knew I would get it in time if all else failed.
Cheers,
Babyblue

Vette(s): 1978 Corvette Indianapolis Pace Car, Purchased from original owner family from storage with 35K miles here in FloridaI have had all engine rubber, gaskets, seals replaced.Air/heat changed.Currently doing suspension.
If you can drive to get it,I’d say go and pick it up.Id also suggest you check your threads as you may need to re-cut the threads if the lug may have been cross threaded at some point and it was forced on at some point.I have 78 Pace Car that was in storage /hidden for 30+years.I recut several when I started my on frame restoration even though the car only had 18,000. Miles on her, rust. I also had to cut the original tires off the rims as they were the original tires.
Like you I try to store as many parts and buy back ups for the “just done know when”.bets of luck.Kevinh
