I was told this cap is worth around $175 is this true? If so I need to move this thread to the for sale section and sell it.

Read somewhere that the brushed chrome horn buttons were recalled and replaced with painted ones because of glare. I know 78s were originally supposed to be chrome.
You never know what someone is willing to pay for something these days.

wow I never knew what I had! my center cap was just like the one in the picture and I painted it cause it was dulled and I thought the painted one would look better. HUH!

Let's check Ebay! 77 horn button, $265!!! buy it now, item no. 7942265391. There's also another one at 99cents. So it must be in that range somewhere. |headscratch|

actually the one for $265 on e-bay is from a guy that is on another forum I chat on. we talked about the value and he said he was gonna try to see if he could get a large amount of money for it.

I have never been able to find it in parts catalogs from the larger Corvette parts dealers. Not only are they painted, but the crossed flags emblem is different then the replacements I'd seen. Luckily, who ever owned mine at the time of the recall didn't replace it.

I was winning the one on e-bay for $3 and the guy pulled it off the auction with 1 day left|cussing|
oh well.

I have one already, I was gonna collect 4 of them and use them for center caps on my wheels |laugh|
