Hi,

I was just wondering what original headlight/lamp brand name did GM use on the 77 Vette.

I just replaced a couple of them (they just were not very bright) but was curious if at least one of the two that I replaced is the original.

Thanx,
Anni and her 77 Demon Evil Smile

GM used their own manufacture headlights from their Guide Lamp Division.  An original sealed beam should have "T3" on the lens...if I'm incorrect on that I hope someone makes the correction.

To get original T3 bulbs...even reproductions...is quite expensive.  Unless you're a purist, get a Halogen sealed beam or conversion kits that use what looks like a standard sealed beam but actually has modern H3 or H4 replaceable bulbs in them.

Amen to that! Last summer I put the sealed beam halogen headlamps in and it really made a difference!

The '77 would not have the "T3" bulbs. Those were last used in '71-'72, I think.
The originals would definitely be "Guide", and would say "Sealed Beam".
I'd have to dig out the spec book for more specific info, but if yours were anything other than "Guide Sealed Beam", they were not original. IF they do happen to be original, and they still work hang on to them!! They are selling for $40(each) these days, USED, if they work.
