Vette(s): 1972 Convertible, ontario orange, ps/pb/pw/air conditioning and 31,000 original miles.
I'm in the process of doing my very first frame off restoration.  It's a 1972 convertible with all matching numbers.  I'm getting close to dropping the body back on and wondering if there are any articles or information out there to help verify that I haven't forgot anything.  I want to be sure I don't drop the body back on and wish I had installed something else first.

Engine, trans, front end, rear end, brakes, trailing arms, exhaust system have been rebuilt or replaced.  I'm within about a week of firing the engine up for the first time.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Vette(s): 1971 convertible,375 HP 350ci,Muncie 4-speed,Edelbrock aluminum heads and RPM air-gap manifold,HEI distrubiter - old school mechanical tach drive. LOUD side exhaust!
Never dome that myself, but a few things that come to mind: gas tank, new fuel lines, new brake lines. Maybe document with a picture the frame VIN number.

This might be handy - it's a checklist for removal, but it has a lot of handy info, and maybe you could follow it in reverse?

Please post some pictures of what you have done. Having a '72 myself, I'd be very interested in seeing them.

Great idea on the vin number.  I had the frame blasted and powder coated and did not have the cover the frame number before powder coating.  I need to remove and take a picture before placing the body back on.  Thanks for comments.

What body mounts are you planning on using?
Make sure that the fuel lines and brake lines are tuck/bend nice and tight to the frame at the rear dog legs(in frnt of the rear tires).
Do you have the lower rear skirts off? this will make it easier to set the body back on.
Check your vacumn reserve tank for any leaks.
If you have already run wiring make sure it dosen't get pinched.
Are your doors already installed?
Did you mark the door hinge possition when you removed? good
After the body is in possition Temporarily line the doors up before tightening the mounts, you can adjust door lines by the mounts along with the door adjustment. Remember after you install the new weatherstripping you will probably have to re adjust the doors to fit the new weatherstripping its thicker when new.
Hope this helps
John
