Vette(s): 1994 C4 Conv, White with Red Interior, Chrome factory sawblade wheels, LT-1, Automatic. Have owned 1960 & 1971 conv, 1976, 1989 & 1992 coupe & 1994 conv.
I purchased this car many years ago without drivetrain. It has a factory 6500 tach, large sway bars/drive shafts & half shafts. It came without A/C and has the original big block hood and frame cutout for balancer. How can I tell if it was a LT-6 or LT-5 originally? Thanks! Jerry

I don't know if there was a difference in tach redline between the LS5 and LS6 big blocks, but based n numbers alone, it's not likely an LS6.  There were 5097 LS5's assembled against 188 LS6 equipped Corvettes.  The odds are against it being one of those, but never say never.  Does it still have an emissions sticker behind the master cylinder or brake booster?  That would give some information.

Without the drivetrain and some verifiable documentation, it might be impossible to determine with any certainty.

I did a bunch of research on mine two years ago.  I found that there was no way to tell and LS5 from an LS6 without a tank sticker or other documentation.  So make it want you want, and enjoy it.
