Vette(s): 1980 Black on Red with 383 Stoker 4 speed. T-Tops

Another place to look for prices is in a back issue of Corvette Magazine.  They do market reviews of each generation on a round robin basis.  I don't recall how long ago the C3s were written up but I think it was within the last 6 months.

Found it, The issue was Jan/06 and according to them the value breakdown is as follows:

Needs TLC @14K,

Average @ 23K,

Good @ 27K,

Show ready @ 36K

with the LT1 adding 10K (only 1287 made for '70)

Hope this helps and sorry to hear of your dilema but do not feel bad as it was his final decsion to by the car you gave all the expertise that you had to offer.

regardless of what the value is versus what he paid.  The guy that sold it LIED and MISREPRESENTED the vehicle and should be dealt with on general principle if nothing else.

Yep these cars are getting up there in value...kind of hard however for this old guy to envision a 1970 IN NEED OF TENDER LOVING CARE selling for 14 K...

Now back to the original question... I wonder IF the seller really knew
what he was selling... in over 30 years in this hobby I have seen guys
(and gals) selling cars who knew it had an engine and 4 tires (with air in them) and little else about the car...

Funny because of the 5 Corvettes I own...the least valuable (resale wise) have to be the 79 and the 76 (both coupes)..but my overall favorite Corvette to just to drive and smile in is my 76... How does one put a true value on a car like any of these cars...there is much more in life then money...
