Does anyone know of any sources to do a vin search on a 1968 corvette? The general sites such as carfax and autocheck do not offer any help?

If you mean a search for previous owners, or such, no.
If you are just looking to see if your car is legit, maybe. GM didn't put the engine size into the VIN until '72, so you won't be able to determine what engine it had from the VIN.
What exactly were you looking for?

I was trying to confirm mileage somehow. It seems like it can't be done for the most part. The person I bought the car from told me it was 63K original on my 68, but it does not look like I can confirm it anywhere.
Thanks for your response.

Ask him to show you all the bills for past work done by shops. They usually put the milage on the bill somewhere. The date and milage should show if there is anything amiss.
Your state DMV might be able to give you some data.
