Hi.
I have an 1968 Stingray corvette.
I bought this from Iranian government at 1990.
The first owner was: Shah of Persia.
1- 194378S409878
2- Big block engine 427
3- 3x2 Holley carburation
4- Automatic transmition
5- International blue
6- White interior leather. With sign,on trim console (in corsive) " LANDAU".
7- Engine's number/ suffix : GM 3919850 / T011IIO
8- Trim codes are: Chevrolet F24
TRIM 402 978
DD
I search everywhere in my car for build sheet.
In up the gas tank. Between speedo and tachometer.
in back and down of seats. in back side of dash.Everywhere...
I only find,in the car,on backside of car at passenger side,
this write with, white pencil:
ASS4#684-2 or A554#684-2
1-18-68
My question is:
Is it possible to have other more
information about this car from GM??
Or tell me who can i ask.
Please help me,Thanks so in befor.

It is a fairly well known fact that GM has no records for the C3 cars. So that is pretty much a dead end. If you are looking for information on how the car was built for restoration purposes, I would venture to guess from your posting that the car is as it was built, so you can probably just purchase the parts that are rusted out or broken and try to restore what you can. The color and interior are most likely correct also. Why do I say this? You say the car has been stored for a long time and it was purchased by the Shaw. I would kinda think the Shaw would buy it pretty much the way he wanted it, drive it for a while and tire of it and garage it without changing anything. I would also guess that parts for '68 Vettes are not plentiful in that part of the world wether they are factory stock or parts for modifications. If the car was really stored for that long, when it went into storage, it had not been restored cause it was still too new and with the 427 tri power, there was no real need for engine mods.
Good luck.
Good luck.

if the seats don't match the trim tag they probably have been recovered.

Do you think that a man so,the King of Persia, changed
the interior colors?
I think that was more easy that he called GM and ordered an other car, same that, with white interio colors. You don't think
so??

Hi james2002
Did you locate the build sheet ( tank sticker ) already.
A car with this low milage must have it still in good condition on top of the tank.
Than again, this tank sticker will not tell you the interior colour, only the exterior car colour and all other options including the 435 HP engine.
White leather interior was not on the option list at all for 68.
Basic was vinyl, but leather could be ordered in black, red , madium blue, dark orange, saddle or tobacco according to my sales brochure.
So if your white interior is original, be it from GM or the dealer, they did not have a code avail for the door jamb.
May be they just used standard black vinyl instead.
You have a desireable car there and we need pics.
Good luck Gunther

Hi
I only realized this now, the engine blocks casting No. is strange = 3919850.
As far as I know, early 68 big block 435 HP cars , this where the L71 , L89 and L88 had casting No = 3916321
Also the stamped Suffix code IO is ??
L71 had IR and L89 had IU.
Did anybody already decode your engine ?
Günther
